HMP Thameside is a Category B Men’s prison located in South-East London. The prison has 638 cells and can hold up to 1200 convicted and remand prisoners. HMP Thameside’s vision is to provide a safe and
respectful environment that works to reduce re-offending through constructive regimes.
THE CHALLENGE
It is vital that prisons provide safe and hygienic cells and facilities to ensure the welfare of prisoners. Research has found that a clean prison environment has a positive effect on prisoner mental health, which helps to reduce future reoffending rates.
